There is also a small checklist on this page:

Which I am going through now; if I could ask for help on the uDig SDK
Quick start Ugo that would be great (since without it the rest of the
SDK tutorials cannot be tested).
Here is the results of my own ad-hoc testing of the SDK:

Use Control-Shift-T to open up the WebMapServer to ensure the geotools
source code was included
This failed for me; the target platform for the SDK does include
net.refractions.udig.libs.sources but for some reason it is not
working. It has been this way for the last couple releases and any
help would be good.
Use File > Import to import the tutorial for a custom application
That worked fine; custom app runs etc...
Try debugging the CSVServiceTest tutorial (to ensure JUnit was
included in your SDK)
junit.framework.AssertionFailedError
	at junit.framework.Assert.fail(Assert.java:47)
	at junit.framework.Assert.assertTrue(Assert.java:20)
	at junit.framework.Assert.assertNotNull(Assert.java:217)
	at junit.framework.Assert.assertNotNull(Assert.java:210)
	at
org.eclipse.pde.internal.junit.runtime.UITestApplication.getApplication
(UITestApplication.java:70)
	at org.eclipse.pde.internal.junit.runtime.UITestApplication.start
(UITestApplication.java:38)
	at org.eclipse.equinox.internal.app.EclipseAppHandle.run
(EclipseAppHandle.java:194)
Try exporting the custom application (to ensure everything else was
included in your SDK)
This worked fine from windows.
