Hi uDiggers,
The German uDig user guide space has seen a rather large maintenance lately. I have converted the English page names to German, removed the TOC, have fixed all the numerous distorted special characters (hopefully never again), fixed several missing images, referenced English pages where German ones are not yet available and even added a bit of new content:
Quickstart: http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/DE/Schnelleinstieg
Services:
http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/DE/Dienste
File formats:
http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/DE/Dateiformate
Still lots of pages exist in English only, but since 99% of German people working with a GIS can speak English anyway ... not something to worry about.
Comment #1:
I tend to group several of your "micropages" into one larger page and reference subsections (anchors) instead of the single pages. This means less maintenance imho.
Comment #2:
On this
http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/EN/File+Formats
page the currently supported file formats are listed. If I am not mistaken uDig 1.1 supports more by now, doesn't it? What about TIFF/TFW, BMP and other image data?
There has been a discussion about the naming of world files recently. Could the result of this discussion please fed into this page. It would fit in nicely there.
Comment #3:
As you can see in the new pages I have added liks to Wikipedia for WFS, WMS, Shapefile and so on. Why write all the details if they are already nicely explained. I suggest to do the same in the English help as well.
---
I would be glad if someone could please try to build an online help from this and check if the outcome is as expected.
That's it for now.
