Well, even better than that would be geoserver as a plugin to udig.  So you
could just say 'share', instead of having to reference some remote server.
Theoretically it could be a pretty light plugin, since we share so many of
the same libraries.  Obviously there's quite a bit of code needed to make
this happen, but it'd be pretty sweet, every udig is a little peer to peer
server.
