[udig-devel] Re: About localizing uDig

Hi,

I've created a download that can be used to translate uDig.  Download  
one of

Macintosh:  http://udig.refractions.net/files/downloads/translate/translateapp-0.1.macosx.carbon.x86.zip
or
Windows:  http://udig.refractions.net/files/downloads/translate/translateapp-0.1.win32.win32.x86.zip

I will make this smaller in the future (right now it is way too big)  
but for now it is a stripped down Eclipse with the Resource Editor  
plugin for editing the .properties files in uDig.

Here are the instructions.  Overtime I'll fix up this experience so it  
isn't so nasty:

Download one of:
Macintosh:  http://udig.refractions.net/files/downloads/translate/translateapp-0.1.macosx.carbon.x86.zip
Windows:  http://udig.refractions.net/files/downloads/translate/translateapp-0.1.win32.win32.x86.zip
Download:  http://udig.refractions.net/files/downloads/translate/translationfiles.zip
unzip and run the application
Create a new project.  It doesn't matter what type
Copy the  translationfiles.zip file to the new project
Unzip the translationfiles.zip.  (You may have to do this in your file  
browser)
For each messages.properties right click on it and choose Edit With >  
Resource Bundle Editor. Add your translation for each element in the  
outline view on the left.  I've never used the Resource Bundle Editor  
program my self so you'll have to stumble around and figure it out.
For each plugin.properties right click on it and choose Edit With >  
Resource Bundle Editor
Translate all the strings for  your language.
zip up the files.  Please keep the file structure
Email them to me or Jody.  (Not the email list).
