[udig-devel] Irrespective of IRC meetings we need a number

I have put a default answer in of 2 ... it seems we now have several
strong uDig based proposals on the table for SoC.
- UDIG-KML import and functionality looks like it would be desired by
the user list; not sure if we can find a mentor for this one? GeoTools
has a similar project on the table so we may get this functionality
anyways ...
- Raster-Map-Calc for uDig
<http://code.google.com/soc/2008/osgeo/app.html?csaid=OhIXGA5FRy4IOR0BMxJQWy4KdhoQSVsEAXRcORdWSUYACyMHbEIGEQ%3D%3D%0A>
- Vector Map-Calc for uDig
<http://code.google.com/soc/2008/osgeo/app.html?csaid=NRwXEANYXShdajMDHgpYX28GNx5eQ14DBnZQbUReXloDVSBca0oF%0A>
- Digital Elevation Model for software uDig
<http://code.google.com/soc/2008/osgeo/app.html?csaid=MhwXFg0fUSQfPBYPMwxcUigJdhALHlEBB3BTakYAFlEGA3NUaURSRw%3D%3D%0A>

A couple of these seem to be based on a JGRASS core as shown here
http://www.beegis.org/ - I have tried asking about the relationship
between their JavaMath parser and CQL; I don't really mind what the
syntax is but am worried about presenting too many query languages; not
to mention the usual questions about joining vector layers :-)

There are a couple geotools ones of note:
- Another Ktabase spatial indexingML Reader
- H2 database spatial indexing
<http://code.google.com/soc/2008/osgeo/app.html?csaid=KAEBHg5aczcKMB0LBh8fUDtfaENdRFIDCidfbkcAQVIBUSI%3D%0A>
- Raster polygonalization for GeoTools
<http://code.google.com/soc/2008/osgeo/app.html?csaid=KBsREB9DUi8MPhokFAZQWi1LOxwJSQ1XAHFWYRIFSUYABHcGbENTFg%3D%3D%0A>
- Raster-to-Vector Module for GeoTools
<http://code.google.com/soc/2008/osgeo/app.html?csaid=NhoPHAdYUCwMNBYKEitWXiAMNF0HHAYLAiMGPREGQF0LHnJWOkNdEgoF%0A>

Given that we missed our IRC meeting today and we are out of time; I
feel like I should start an email discussion for each uDig specific
proposal? Of courses students that have already shown up and said hi get
preferential treatment in my book :-)

Jody
