I think their is a zoom to selection action somewhere; is it on the 
table view toolbar? Also try right clicking on the selection; or looking 
in the navigate menu. I will be working on the menu structure today and 
will tell you where this functionality ends up ;-)

I just looked on the 
[http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/HACK/Table+view] page; 
The zoom to selection icon is on the top of the view, 2nd icon in. A 
magnifying glass with a "selection" box.
