[udig-devel] A simple GIS Application problem

hi,,
I am new in GIS open source field ,I downloaded eclipse, udig ..I followed the steps in this link
http://udig.refractions.net:8080/confluence/display/UDIG/Project+Quickstart
what can i do after that .....
i want a complete document to help me to make a GIS application "view a map ,zoom pan search and identify landmarks..."
plz help
