Nod,
I had just read somewhere that OpenJUMP and UDIG were working
together now,
and I remember OpenJUMP having this (limited) ability.
ogr2ogr does a good job.
I have opted for the QGIS/GRASS tools, for now.
I like the portability and direction UDIG is going though,
As a resource for savvy and not so savvy GIS users.
I'll keep watching.
