[udig-devel] uDig 1.1 RC12 is out (the best so far)

Hi,
So I've just tried again with a similar system. uDig ships with its
own JRE so the version you have locally shouldn't matter. There is
one issue that I've found with the installer so far. If uDig is not
installed on the same drive as your home directory it will try to
create a "home" on the same drive. So it is possible that that could
be a problem. I'll explain what uDig tries to do maybe you can
determine what is special about your installation that is causing it
to fail.
Here's basically what is going on:
1. uDig needs to write its private configuration information
somewhere. Since many computer have restricted access to Program
Files it tries to use %APPDATA%\udig\uDig1.1-RC12 (the last bit is
the version number). Verify that that is a legal location
2. uDig needs a place to write its default project, catalog
information and maps. It uses %HOMEPATH%\uDig. That is the source
of the above bug because apparently the variable doesn't specify the
drive.
3. uDig specifies the JVM to use. It should be the one shipped with
uDig.
I suspect one of those values are indicating a location of the
harddrive that is restricted.
