The hole tool throws a series of NPE exceptions to the logs, resulting in all manner of bad things. At one point I even had an endless series of Dialog boxes popping up and taking down my machine (forced reboot).

Turns out that the NPE occcurs when trying to transform a ReferencedEnvelope that has been created with a null CRS (so like what is the point of that?).

This is preventing development (and stopping a team from working).
