[udig-devel] Can we add new features to existing layer?

May be I misunderstood something, but how to copy feature with selection tool?
Now I'm doing like this: select one feature by BBox selection tool,
simply press Ctrl-C, then Ctrl-V. Info tool says that there is new
feature with ID = "new.0". But when pressing "Commit changes" this new
feature disappears.

In fact, I want to do this programmatically, but first it would be
good to know that this is possible :)
