[udig-devel] Enhancements to SLD Editing?

Hi - I think that uDIG is a great application and I am getting close to the
point of telling users to style the maps they're going to give me with it
rather than a product such as ArcMap. I would like a user to point to our
collection of GeoServer layers, style up their map and then send me the SLD.
In playing with the SLD editing options I have come up with a short wish
list of items and I wonder if they are in the pipeline? I tried looking at
the open issues and the roadmap and I saw a few references, but I'm still
not clear on whether these features are coming or how far over the horizon
they are.
1) Ability to have dashed or dotted lines (in SLD this is stroke-dasharray)
2) Ability to have an ExternalGraphic for a point (or filling in a poly)
3) Halo around text
4) Ability to symbolize features based on their attribute codes - for
example - polys with attcode="A" are green, attcode="B2" are blue, etc. I
know this is more complex than 1-3 since it involves building Rules and
Filters.
I have hand coded SLD for the basic set of MassGIS layers
http://maps.massgis.state.ma.us/geoserver_sld
but I don't think I can get users to edit SLD - they would need the
interface to allow them to do the above.
Thanks for any feedback.
