Did a quick web search to make sure that Common Navigator Framework 
reading is not wasting out time:

So if I am reading this right; the answer to your original question is 
*yes* - we can integrate better into Eclipse. Integrating at the 
IResource level is not advisable; but integrating at the CNF level is.
