The serial feed may be a bit of fun, since a client system is not always
on do you intended to store up notifications into a database somewhere?
It would be a great example us of the "issues list" interfaces we have
been working on in the last couple weeks.

Paul Ramsey had a use-case from China as part of his presentation
yesterday - these presentations will be placed online from the FOSS4G
conference. We just need to look up the link.

We have an internal "command" system that is used to modify the "model"
constructs like map, layer, edits graphics and so on. We have not yet
made this available to a scripting engine - but you can certaintly start
the experiment.

The eclipse "world" has focused on the W3C xml form constructs - I have
not checked in over the last year to see how this is progressing. The
rough idea is an mess of xml defines a form - that can be turned into a
user interface, or processed into a web page as needed.

It is perfect Philip, even if uDig does not end up being your final
choice it will be a great chance to work through some of your
requirements. Currently I am at a conference, and do not have access to
the links mentioned above. Lets hunt down some more information proceed
with this conversation.
