The text area and checkbox area are sometimes not completely displayed. See the attached screenshots. The first screenshot occurs when uDig starts up and the first tip that is displayed is okay. Next is then pressed and a tip that is too big is displayed. The second occurs when uDig starts up and the first tip that is display is too large.

I would also like to question the need for the Tip of the Day. Would it be better to either make these tips more obvious in the interface itself (such as with the status bar), or perhaps move them to the wiki, where they can all be viewed at once, while using uDig simultaneously. User's could add to them, and we could export them into the help guide.
