uDig locks .qix file after deleteing map

This maybe related to  bug  http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/UDIG-1031.

Once a map is deleted from the project pane, using the right click context menu.  It appears the uDig does not release the lock on the .qix file (associated to shapefile).  Even after closing uDig the .qix file could not be deleted without rebooting.
