1. Open a "clean" version of uDig (no maps, catalogs, etc).
2. Add a layer
3. Try to select a feature, or add a new feature
4. On my machine, the expanding/constricting circle animation will indefinitely loop. The feature will not be selected or added.

I have experienced the problem with two different data sources (shape files and PostGIS, haven't tested any others). I don't have this problem if the map has multiple layers.
