Oooouch! No. Please. Select and View are really different ideas. We need
to be able to select and then pan/zoom/examine what's been selected.
Selection has to be a bit stable. Imagine

(1) select features to analyze
(2) run an analysis

well, you might loop across that. And as (1.1) zoom/pan to see if you
have selected something extra by mistake or have omitted something you
wanted to select. you might even have to zoom in to ctrl-select some
extra stuff.
