what action does uDIG perform after a WFS transaction (i.e. Update)?

We are trying to modify a feature and it works great, but after committing
the transaction uDIG takes almost a few minutes to come back.

It seems like it is doing a client-side intersection between the old and
the new situation to show the changed part of the geometry in a different
color. Is this correct?
